Clean my pc, or am I screwed?
Like an idiot I started out downloading a few scripts, got lazy, didn't check them properly and now my poor pc has issues.
What tools would you guys suggest that I use to clean her back up? I'm hoping to avoid a complete wipe n reinstall, but if it comes to that, I suppose there is no other option, but if there is actually software out there good enough to clean what could be a severely compromised pc, I would love to give it a try first. Just as importantly: What software do you suggest to use for scanning incoming files? *Obviously the standard commercial garbage does not work as I have tried all the normal consumer stuff in the past and all that did was slow my pc down to a crawl, even when brand new. thnx in advance |

Well usually when i encounter problems in my web browser or PC's performance after downloading some rubbish files, i just restore my computer to an earlier point and after that i scan it with Norton...and then my problem is usually solved...... |

RE:
Thanks Atti
I used to use Norton, but in all my years working on computers I have never come across a piece of software that can kill a pc like norton can. It takes so much resources that I might as well use an etch a sketch. For now I just installed bitdefender and so far at least I don't notice a speed difference. It did find a few issues as well, so that was good. |

It's Free tool but very strong and powerful... "HouseCall can quickly identify and fix a wide range of threats including viruses, worms, Trojans, and spyware." It is now faster, more powerful and browser independent! Code: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/apac/ ![]() |
