Building a list using Adwords?

Hello,

I have an idea to build a legit list, but I'm not sure if it would work, and as there is money involved in the process, I would like you guys' opinion (:

Would it worth the money to build a legit list using Google Adwords?

I mean, I would make ads (giving discount coupons or any "free thing" on a certain field/niche).

These ads would redirect to a landing page + email responder/form

After filling the form, the user would receive the discount coupon/free stuff on their email + they would be redirected to my website (which is in the ad's niche.)

Have any of you done this?

I think that double opt-in and targeted lists always work wonderful. And legit lists are hard to build these days... And this list would be targeted as well.

Any advice to build legit lists?
