Big Tech Monopoly, Censorship, Antitrust and Free Speech
Elon Musk: “ A lot of people are going to be super unhappy with West Coast high tech as the de facto arbiter of free speech”

Here they are... Amazon, Google/YouTube, Twitter, Facebook (and others).

The claws are really starting to come out.

They are in control. They are working together to stay in control.

We are contributing to our own demise.

What to do? What are the plans? How shall we put these giants in check?

We keep doing business with them... hence making them powerful.

What are the alternatives?

What should be the alternatives if none exist?

I hear decentralization... blockchain... some other kind of internet.

Please share your thoughts. Please share your resources.

This is going to bite us in the ass folks.

We need to work together.

Wow. Zero replies. Well glad to be the first and max reps for the post!
It seems many different options but none in a position to overtake the giants, yet. AI and ChatGPT could do it, hence why the 'big boys' are all in....of course.

Millions of private channels now too, with WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord etc

Hopefully we can revive the convo and maybe get some good tips and ideas running thru the thread. Or maybe this will be the last post for another 2 years!! I hope not!

PC was crashing when I tried to reply before. Max reps and too bad nobody has bothered to reply until now.

It is indeed an issue and as you said, if we don't figure it out, we could be done for as far as trustworthy info and free speech.

Kudos for the post. Hopefully more will follow.

RE: Big Tech Monopoly, Censorship, Antitrust and Free Speech
META is using decentralized open source softwares, but still the internet is centralized - just a hand full of sites that are the majority of internet, so they can make whatever narative they want exist.

Twitter files proved that.

Torrents are mostly dead, I used to find any thing I want there, but now I have to use forums to find things, or use search engine operators etc.

There is even censorship on search enggine. Deplatforming of people. So many problem, and no one in the FREEDOM, Liberty parts of the internet said anything when these things were happening. They have made us docile and neutered!

In the olden days, there would've been some sort of protest. Especially by people like Anonymous.

Alas, here lies liberty and free access to information and freedom from censorship. May they rest in peace.
