Adsense w/ YouTube, still do-able in 2014- even without original content?

Im just dipping my toes into youtube... a few queries if you please:

1. Can i begin by monetising others (shared) videos in a way thats whitehat?
2. whats the copyright workaround? a "product review", "in the news", "compilation/montage"?
3. When i do begin submitting original material...seems like recording my own gameplay on a fav game is a good start, comments?
   
4. can i send paid traffic to the adsense/youtube channel/video? against tos?
   
5. do i need to be a youtube partner to start earning? or just associate my adsense with my youtube?
6. any guides/posts worth having or BSO worth buying? (i was looking at halloween's bso here )

im on a micro budget. i figure if i've more time than money i could learn to chop some vids together and get in the game.
i have a map of the terrain, anybody have a compass?

I am not making a killing on you tube, but I maybe able to answer a few of your questions.

1. No you can not, at least I have not found away. Unless you go off of their idea and completely make your own video.

2. Not positive on this one so, I will not answer it.

3. This could be good, think angry video game nerd. he makes a killing by doing this, but he also has great editing.

4. You can not make or tell them click on your videos, but it is just as simple to just post your video in many forums and social media sites.

5. You tube partner is associated with your adsense. They are combined in your adsense homepage.

6. The best teacher is experience. I have experienced success in creating how to videos.

Final thoughts: mainly just start creating the videos and post to a few related forums. You could also think about creating a few related products down the road that go along with your you tube channel. Example: tee-shirts
