WIFI Network Banned Me - How To Change Computer ID To Reconnect?

Hi,



There is a cafe nearby where I am currently staying which offers a wifi
network. I go to the cafe every day, but also use the wifi from my room
as I can get the signal there too. Mainly in the evening/night when the
cafe is closed but the wifi is still available. It's been fine for the
last week but last night I did some software updates which look like
they were bigger than expected and today the network is no longer
available on my list of available networks.



I puzzled over this for a while then opened my other laptop and there it
was, still. So I'm guessing/assuming, that my first laptop has been
locked out/banned/hidden from the network - possibly for the downloading
overnight? I really don't know, maybe it's just a coincidence.



Since I can still access the network from my 2nd
laptop, I'm guessing it's some sort of 'ID' thing - but I don't know
much about this. Could someone please tell me how I can change the 'ID'
of my first laptop so I can reconnect to this wifi network?


I need the connection to keep an eye on some campaigns I have running and I'm only here temporarily, so I cannot get
my own connection.

Hey there,

If you try connect to the network using you first comp and it directly gets disconnected or even does not asks for you to enter the password. Then it means that they have blocked you laptops MAC address which is the ID for your laptops connection.

SO, you can use a software to change your mac address.

This is the one i will suggest : Techinitium MAC changer for Windows only

If you have a mac then please search for Mac address changing software for MAC OS.

just buy a plug in wifi adapter for your banned laptop...
Use the plug in wifi adapter to connect to the wifi network...
The router thinks your computer as a new user and allows it through... (refer Network adapter MAC Id)
Should work fine...(each adapter should only set you back by 3-4$)

If not go with raygonsmith's idea ...the simplest and easiest if the software works well

But frankly, don't abuse something you get for free as it might make the cafe mgmt to turn the wifi off in the night and you'll end up with no free internet at nights

Just change your MAC address and it will let you in again. Both Apple and Pc have software to do this very easily!
