as regards the password issue, some are definitely protected by the uploader and they also post: REQUESTS FOR THE PASSWORD WILL BE IGNORED. that's pretty straightforward. so you're left with nada.... i've found that more than once (the better the product, the more insistent they are). by the way, i found that mirrorcreator is one of the main offenders with spam/malware/porn/popunders. there's gotta be another way. like i said, i've got a sh*tload of products that i bought that i'd be willing to share if i just knew how....

and why can't the VIP membership rules/regs/requirements be posted somewhere so i know what's up BEFORE i contact lala. i may not even qualify...(based on reps?)

and how do i get the "spoiler" cloak to appear for that link? tried searching. couldn't find instructions. or helpful links.

i can't be the only one in this boat....

You can read about other mirrors here. I'm not sure why the VIP rules aren't posted, I guess they just want it to be private. I had to ask support (Lala) for info on VIP.

Awesome thread, it's nice to see some kind of formal recognition where it's due. I usually frequent the templates and themes forum, and if I see a theme that I can use, I'll download it, and try it before I buy it. But, I always add a little thank you message when giving rep. It's just common sense really.

But, I really can't stand when the newbies, usually the ones with under 5 posts, cry because they "really need" a particular share. They cry as if their life depends on it, it's quite pathetic actually.

So, to all the contributors big and small, you're definitely appreciated in making the community a fun place to visit literally everyday. :)

As a newbie here and VIP as well I am just trying to figure out how it all works. I don't mean to be a complainer but honestly I have looked around and can't seem to find a thread that is kind of a guide to how things work here.

I see a lot of people complain about leechers but when you ask people to join as a paid member it doesn't say anywhere that leeching isn't tolerated. Leeching is sometimes just because people have limited time or don't have stuff to upload. Making mirrors, okay, I can do that, and give rep ... but...

* How does one know how many reps one can give away? Is there a limit to giving away reps? How are reps earned? Onlyl by uploading?
* Is there any danger in creating mirrors for stuff that might have been illegally gotten?
* Is there a "best practices" post somewhere for how to upload stuff without getting in trouble with the WSO or whatever creator for doing so?
* Group buys: when you do a group buy you do not get any rights to tech support or anything, right? Just like when you download a freebie from here?
* Is asking for rep or demanding it acceptable? I see some people doing that and I wonder if that's really how it's supposed to work here?

Being a newbie forgive me if I am asking dumb questions and yes I did spend some time looking for answers but this is a big site so I didn't find them. I do see a thread about making mirrors but don't see it specifically answering my question above.

Seems to me a Sticky about HOW THIS SITE WORKS would be a great idea and I'd be willing to write one.... if only I knew what the answers were to these and other questions newbies have.

Thanks for a site that has great stuff for downloading. I think one thing people have to realize is that not everyone can just sit around all day reading forums or sorting through all the various sub-forums etc. I'm sure others are like me, have a "regular job" plus build new sites on a regular basis plus promote old sites/ businesses in my spare time, etc. Some people may have more time to spend here than others, that's the bottom line.

As soon as I figure out how many reps I can give away and how one gets more, and how to anonymously upload and other questions I have, then I will try to be a productive member here.

RE:
i think vip's can give a maximum of 5 reps and contributors can give 3 then regular members can give 1 point

yes i see lots of people asking for rep and i dont know also what are reps for maybe for promotion. As long as you share something useful reps will come

I wish someone who knows would answer my questions above, particularly:
How many reps does one have to give away? Is there a limit? How many does one start with? So then if you don' t gather more by offering stuff, you just run out of reps to give? Is that how it works?

Below is a thread that I started that should help newbies and maybe experienced members. I've put together 10 links that detail how to search for stuff to share on this forum. Most the search methods members who have been here awhile will probably know, but if you're a newbie, how are you going to share stuff if you don't know how to properly search for them?

I have also emailed Lala to see if those links could be put in as a sticky, so more newbies would be aware of them. Right now it is in the Tutorial section. I've also told her that I didn't think it was right to have 3 of the links be in the VIP section. Why should a nonVIP member be held back by not being able to know all the searching techniques that are available.

Here is the link: http://bestblackhatforum.com/Thread-BBHF...free-stuff
Newbies: Don't know how to find stuff to share on the forum?
