What do you mean by "plain"? The file's a ZIP, I've just tested it. try to change the extension of the file to zip and see, maybe the download got disrupted and you're left with the fragment of the zip, check filesize (should be around 470 Megs).

how will i change the extension because uploading 470mb worth of articles to my cpanel just to change extension is worth killing. is there any easy way to do it on my laptop

Not really sure what you're trying to do, "uploading to cpanel".
Download the 470 meg ZIP, unzip it and you have folders and folders of different PLR articles mostly in txt, some in doc, wri and rtf. Use them as you wish.
That's all there is to it.
