If you are serious about Offline, don't bother with this. Giving away free or cheap things is baaaad, ask yourself why these "clients" are looking for cheap things in the first place.

The problem with sharing on a forum like this one is
1. You are anonymous
2. People are generally jaded so they cut down for the sake of being funny. (that's bad)
3. The ones that take action loose out because of all the other noise in these type of threads.
4. Having no time or desire to play posting flame wars I tend to keep more private :(

I'll give you this one nugget of Gold that you can either use or not.

If you REALLY want off line clients go get them! What I mean is get away from the computer and pick a day to just go meet them.

Here is an intro that I use and it almost always breaks the ice with the business owner. Walk in and ask to speak to the owner. If
the gate keeper asks you why you want to speak with the owner say this word for word and it will shut them up right away.

"I am a local customer that would like to ask the owner a question"

When the Owner comes say this to him / her

"I am a local customer of yours who's been using your services that would like to help you with my services, do you have a few minutes?"

Then take it from there. Hope this helps you!

It is funny when I read how people emphasized about not doing something when it just did not work for them. If it did not work for you; maybe you did not touch the right buttons. I have actually kick off my offline career 2 years back giving a free website to a customer. That customer went to brag to all his friends; and I got 3 more customers but after explaining to them I can't just go around and give for free; I charged them 50% of the real price(real cost was just 10%). From there on; whenever I come into a new area; i always give something away for free to a potential customer; not any punk that answer my email first but rather I choose someone strategic.. that will do lots of buzz about what he is going to get.. in some ways; he is going to create exposure for my business in a way or another..whether he likes it or not.

I recently did a job for a restaurant; which was a real nightmare(constant bugging about stuffs he can't understand - here and that) and the price I made him paid was not worth at all. But the fact is that due to this job only; I managed to grab 11 restaurants in the same area (FULL PAID). I got the 1st restaurant a basically free website and I got 11 paying clients by leveraging that free website to them.

I won't go much in details; but I am sure you get where I am going... But Fiverr... HELL NO! I am hardworking but no stupid.. Upselling on fiverr is like trying to catch a shrimp in the dark. First off; the market is made for cheap offers for sure; the audience you will get to upsell there are all looking to buy "CHEAP" things. I would personally not put so much effort in that given that the simple probability of getting a proper upsell that will make all these efforts worth is too minimum.

3. List Building - Leads from fiverr for upsells later.

I do not want to get into a contest about you can do with a client V/s what I can do. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.

If I am sarcastic; you will know for sure; I can guarantee you that. There is no point to talk so rudely as if someone just punched you in face.

All criticisms done here are constructive ones as they are based on the methods and the way to approach them. I also mentioned all methods work with your own individual twists.
